hey there, i'm ryan
an aspiring data scientist.
and former finance professional.
About me
There’s too much to share in this single blurb…so check out my full personal bio on this page here. But here’s the TLDR…
Professionally, I’m a data-driven, results-oriented professional who excels in challenging and dynamic environments. Having studied computer science and worked in the financial services industry, my experiences have provided me with a strong sense of business acumen through the lens of an engineer. I’m always focused on improving my technical and operational skills, striving to develop innovative solutions that empower strategic decision-making at the management level.
Now a graduate student at the University of Michigan studying Data Science, I look forward to sharpening my technical skillset and applying it within the realm of finance and sustainability.
Outside of work, I love the outdoors, spending time with my dog Arlo, traveling the world, and fitness (I was a NYC Marathon Finalist in November of 2022!).
My Interests
Finance
Although my exposure in finance primarily revolved around revenue growth, I’m more interested in finance as a business unit (strategic finance, FP&A, corporate development, etc.). What I learned in my ~ 2 year of work: it’s important to focus on disciplined within the business and not just on top-line growth. I see finance as a tool that empowers organizations to drive and enable strategy.
Technology
We’ve reached an era where AI is becoming more commonplace. And while there’s scrutiny and concern surrounding its implications (think bad actors, potential for misuse, bias, etc.). it’s here to stay. My thoughts: learn how to integrate with your life because it’s here to stay. And with regulation, I’m confident in its ability to increase welfare for our society as a whole.
Sustainability
As an avid backpacker, skier, and general nature enthusiast, the future of our truly planet matters to me. I hope to eventually be a part of the climate technology revolution in my line of work, whether through direct or indirect involvement. Some exciting and promising solutions: Direct Air Capture, Geothermal / Nuclear Energy, and Decentralizing our Grid.
I’m always looking to meet people and explore exciting new opportunities.
